Seoul is more than just the capital city of South Korea. Located in the middle of Korean Peninsula, Seoul comprises diverse cultures as well as dynamics regarding its two millennial history. As one of the most powerful cities in South Korea, Seoul has been the capital for more than 600 years including its prime era in Baekje, a kingdom founded in 18 BC, and Joseon, a dynasty that was founded in the late 14th century. Recorded as the world’s 4th largest economy in terms of nominal GDP, Seoul is home to numerous major technology companies, to name a few, Samsung, LG and Hyundai. It is one of the biggest influential metropolitan cities in the world as it was ranked sixth in the Global Power City Index and Global Financial Centres Index.

One word that describes Seoul perfectly would be “Diversity”. Seoul is famous for its coexistent of a well-preserved historical relics and modern architecture and contemporary arts. Specifically, the 4 palaces from Joseon dynasty era are still aesthetically appealing that 16 million people came to visit the 4 palaces, Jongmyo shrine and royal tombs of the Joseon dynasty last year. Not only has Seoul historical significance, but it is also the home of many entertaining sites. Lotte world, one of the most renowned amusement park in South Korea, is right next to the 123-floored Lotte World Tower, the tallest skyscraper in South Korea and 6th tallest building in the world. Seoul also is the host nation of assorted annual events and has hosted the 1986 Asian Games, 1988 Summer Olympics, 2002 FIFA World Cup and 2010 G20 Seoul Summit. Seoul also invites people worldwide to its annual Seoul Fashion Week at Dongdaemun Design Plaza & Park, as well as annual International Firework Festival in front of 63 building, another skyscraper and once the tallest building in Seoul.
